LAGOS – AN indigenous company has announced the rollout of its artificial intelligence-powered security ecosystem in Nigeria.

The business-to-business (B2B) systems integrator, LagoSmart Networks, is to roll the solutions to businesses, estates, smart cities, manufacturing and petroleum industries, and critical infrastructure in the main cities of Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt.

The solutions are said to be tailor-made for Nigerian environments and combine AI, biometric access control, surveillance analytics, facility automation and renewable energy systems to empower Nigerian organisations and municipalities.

Offerings include closed circuit television (CCTV) installation, turnstile systems, metal detectors, baggage scanners, control rooms and advanced building automation technologies.

“Our mission is to secure Nigeria’s future with smart, scalable systems that prevent threats before they happen,” said Abhay Yadav, Executive Director at LagoSmart.

The rollout of AI-powered security solutions in Nigeria comes as the West African country experiences a surge in crime, particularly those of a violent nature.

These include terrorism and kidnappings, adding to long-running crimes such as oil theft.

Experts say while private security companies in Nigeria play an increasingly vital role in fighting crime, they face significant challenges in meeting the growing security demands of Africa’s largest nation by population, estimated at 237 million.
